LeRoy Pennysaver & News - Powers Visits The Greens to Discuss Heath Care

26th Congressional District congressional hopeful Jon Powers recently met with local citizens at the LeRoy Greens to discuss heath care issues and to give a brief overview of his newly released plan for helping businesses and individuals gain access to affordable health care and prescription medications.

Powers' plan responds to the problems of skyrocketing health costs and availability and calls for a combination of local and governmental efforts. "Our solutions aren't going to all come from Washington. We as a community have to start addressing them. As your Congressman, I can help drive that dialogue." Powers stated.

His detailed plan includes allowing consumers to buy safe medicines from Canada and other countries, the reworking of existing programs to further assist working class families, veterans and seniors, providing small businesses with aid so they can afford insurance for employees, the creation of a health care purchasing exchange program similar to the one used by members of Congress, encouraging competition within the medical insurance industry, and recruiting more young people into the field of nursing.
